Happy Birthday to My Firstborn!

Dear Friends,

It’s such a wonderful day — it’s the 14 year anniversary of the day I became a mother! Today is Hunter’s birthday, and tonight we are going out to celebrate. Our weekend was spent hosting a birthday party for him, and this evening is all about him. That means my regularly scheduled Mediterranean Monday post will be on hold until next week. I didn’t want to leave anyone hanging, so I thought I would let you know why you won’t be seeing any yummy food tonight!

Hunter wants wings for his birthday, so we’re going to a local dive called Pilot House, for wings and barbecue and a steak for Logan. These celebratory occasions call for a break from my normal healthy eating habits. Tonight, I will be enjoying some pulled pork with pimento cheese, and a side of fries. I already know I’ll probably be feeling sluggish afterwards, but I wholeheartedly believe that we must allow ourselves an occasional splurge in order to stay consistent. Life is short, so always make room for things you love!
